JOIN Bond Pirates in 2026

Bond Pirates Rugby Union Club is a leading club in the Gold Coast Rugby Competition. Established in 1996, through the formation of previous Pirates Rugby Club and Bond University Rugby Club, the club has gone on to compete successfully in both major and minor competitions and continued to develop its junior academy into the largest junior base club on the Gold Coast.

The Bond Pirates are keen to bolster their ranks in all grades and age categories this year. If you have an active interest in participating at any level in seniors, juniors, over 35s, or girls 7s, please email your details (name, mobile contact number, age as of 1st January, and preferred position) to info@bondpirates.com.au.

REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS:

Registrations need to be completed prior to training commencing. Prompt registration helps to ensure your child is selected into a team as older teams do fill up and registrations close.

THE ONLY WAY TO REGISTER IS TO USE THE RUGBY XPLORER APP OR VIA YOUR ONLINE ACCOUNT WITH RUGBYAU

You must have a Rugby Xplorer account to register. Parents are asked to register their details as the account holder then enter their child.

Registrations can be completed via the

STEPS TO REGISTER

1. Open Rugby Xplorer app/ Rugby Portal and sign in by entering email address and password.

If it’s your first time registering to rugby union, please create an account first (parents details) then follow steps to register player.

2. Click “Register”
3. Click ‘Find a Club’
4. Select who you would like to register, click “continue”
5. Enter Club name – Bond Pirates Rugby Union clubJuniors or Seniors
6. Click Club name and hit “next”
7. Select Registration Role, Registration Type and Duration from dropdowns, click “next”

Best to choose Season for Duration.

Please Note: Weekly option available for senior grade ONLY but WILL NOT contribute to full registration.

Training only can be used for training ONLY Pre-season with the expectation that you have full season registration by End of March. To ensure a spot in team full registration needs to be paid.

8. Players who are Re-registering ensure to change personal information to suit current details. Juniors will needto enter correct height and weight details. Select NO to making profile private unless totally necessary as if you select private players name will be left off all team scoring displays.
9. Payment Screen – Select payment option enter credit card or proceed to zip Pay option.

 Birth Certificates need to info@bondpirates.com.au before team allocation can be completed.

To process a Voucher please forward your signed voucher to info@bondpirates.com.au and a replied discount code email will be sent back once processed. Then you register as per above.

Our Junior Club 

2025 EXCITING NEWS – Now fielding from AGE 4

Junior Rugby 4s to 11s Friday 21st February at 4:30 for Sign on Welcome Night. Mixed

4 – 5s Get into Rugby WALLA This age group play small group activities with a focus on fundamental movement skills, introducing participants to Rugby in a fun, safe, and inclusive environment.

6 – 7s Get into Rugby TRI-TIME This age group continues skill development and progression with small sided activities, contact readiness and modified Tri Tag Rugby match play preparing participants for junior rugby.

Junior Rugby 8 – 12s non competitive (no finals)
8s tackling is introduced to the game with 7 a side and a focus on correct/safe technique in tackle, ruck, and maul.
9s moves to 10 a side and a focus on attack defence.
10 & 11 age group moves to a full field less 10m and introduces kick in general play, contested scrum, and lineout.
12s moves to 15 a side, full field, and a positional awareness focus. 12s is considered competitive with the theory of first past the post the overall winning team in the district.

Teams generally fill fast therefore we aim to close team registrations once enough players have purchased full season registrations.

Bond Pirates Rugby fields strong competitive sides, our teams fill fast so reach out now to ensure your spot with us. Player Registration is required to hold a spot on the team.

Once a pirate always a pirate.

Our social group holds the club together. The over 35s consist of previous players, coaches, and dads a bunch of light-hearted blocks just wanting a non-serious run and some bloke time. Each Thursday they meet on the grounds at 6:30pm with a handful of games organised during the season. In the off-season, golf days or other activities are often organised.
